Wildwood Weeks
By Bill Mettinger
Bill Mettinger was born in 1964 and raised in the Kensington section of Philadelphia although over the years he has strayed to the far off reaches of Olney, Lawncrest and Huntingdon Valley. He currently resides in the Philly suburb of Elkins Park.
Bill loves God, his wife & son, pets, a handful of friends, music and beer (possibly even in that order). He says he could eat pizza just about every night, would rather eat hamburger than steak, refuses to eat salmon “‘cause its pink and smells like a dock,” loves cheesesteaks and hoagies and hates to cook on the grill.
Bill falls asleep at most movies, watches very little TV and has probably read less than five books in the last twenty-five years.
Bill published his first book “Kensington Kid” at the end of 2008 to rave regional reviews that led to several TV appearances, interviews and articles by local press.
Bill loves to write and has worked more off than on “Wildwood Weeks” as well as a couple of other projects for the last bunch of years that he looks forward to completing in the near future as well.

As a kid I can remember for several weeks following each vacation how fun it was to share stories and experiences with family and friends and I quickly came to realize just how similar each of our vacations really were. We may not have all been together as a group, but strangely enough we did the same things, rode the same rides, ate the same food, shared in the same sights, sounds and smells, and told the same stories year after year.
As an adult in my fifties, forty years removed from those childhood days, although through clouded memory, I still marvel in my experiences, and have come to realize that my experiences with my own family are amazingly similar to so many others who spent time at the Jersey Shore. Hopefully my memories will help stir up some long misplaced but still deeply cherished memories of your own experiences for those lucky enough to have lived them and for those others who only wish that they could...
If your summer vacations at "Downashore" included rides on Hell Hole & Flyer. If you have memories of The Wipe Out, Pirate Ship Skua, Castle Dracula & Kong. If you ate at The Captain's Table, Zaberer's & Groff's. If you played golf on a rooftop or spent time in the Fun Shop. If you remember the trampolines or got sick on The Turbo. If you still can't decide if the Whacky Shack or Keystone Kops were greater. If you have been eating the same pizza for the last forty plus years. If your family is slightly dysfunctional like mine. This book is for you!
