On March 4, 1924, an amazingly unique individual was born into our world. Richard E. “Gene” Douglas has not only blessed his own family with joy, kindness, and Love of the Lord, but all who know him as well. Throughout his life, his positive creative powers have always given him the ability to “Think out of the Box”” and go beyond the norm in all endeavors. After college at USF and during a stintg in the Army (assisting with Patton’s “Battle of the Bulge”), Gene married his teenage sweetheart, Vonnie. Later, a son and daughter kept the family busy. Finally, at 85 he retired from the corporate arena. Now, at age 94, his numerous talents still afford him the ability to touch many new hearts. Gene - the musician, composer and music teacher; Gene – the social guru, organizing bridge groups,music recitals, prayer meetings and other gatherings for friends; Gene – the baker of all delectable sweets to share with others; Gene – the author of many prayer pamphlet, personal family books and now, WHEN LIGHTNING STRIKES. It’s evident, Gene is a very engaged man, continually letting Jesus shine through He has said many times, “It is our calling to reach out to others and share the Gospel.
