Coffee table books are typically larger in size, with the smallest standard size starting at 8x8 inches, with 11x11 inches on the larger end. Another sizing decision to make is will the book be portrait or landscape? If you’re having trouble deciding on the size of your coffee table book, so we recommend either visiting a library or bookstore to look at different coffee table books in your same subject or interest category.
Coffee table books are typically case bound (hardcover), with many featuring upgraded print options, like foil lettering, matte finishes with glossy cover details, cloth and leather covers, and dust jackets. 48 Hour Books offers upgraded options to make your coffee table book attractive and durable.

Standard Finishes: Choose from 100 Pt. Hi-Gloss or Silk (matte) Laminate and print a full-color design directly on the cover.
Cloth & Leather Covers: Choose from Leatherette, Leather, or Cloth, which can be paired with Foil Stamping or Diamond 3D Foil directly on the cover, or create a full-color design on a dust jacket.
Dust Jackets (For Hardcover Books): Dust jackets are removable, heavy paper covers that protect your book and can be customized with a full-color design. Foil elements can also be added. Choose from Hi-Gloss or Silk finishes.
Diamond 3D Printing (For all Cover Types): Choose to highlight the title or design elements on your book cover or dust jacket with our raised, Diamond 3D Printing. Choose from Metallic Foil, available in several colors, Clear Coat for a glossy, raised finish, or Smart Textures, available in several, unique patterns.
Diamond 3D Foil is available in gold, silver, rose gold, red, blue, green, teal, romance pink, holographic pink, bright purple, and holographic purple.
Foil Stamping (For Cloth & Leather Covers): Add a shiny book title or simple design to cloth and leather covers with foil stamping. Available in silver, gold, red metallic, blue metallic, white gloss, and black gloss.
Custom Endsheets (For Hardcover Books): Include a fully custom design on the inside cover of your hardcover book to the endsheets and flysheets that complements your cover.
Edge Printing (For Hardcover & Paperback Books): Add a solid color or full-color design to your book edges. Our edge printing machine prints color and designs directly on the cut edges of your book – no messy spray paint needed.

Choosing a paper type coffee table book printing is pretty cut and dry. If you have a lot of images, illustrations, or photography, we recommend the following paper types with 48 Hour Books: 80# Gloss Text or 80# Silk (matte) Text paper or for an even thicker stock, 100# Gloss Text or 100# Silk Text. If your coffee table book is text-heavy, opt for Silk Text paper so that the shine doesn’t get in the way of easy reading with Gloss Text paper – but both are great options! If you want an uncoated paper, we recommend our 70# Offset or 80# Bright White Offset paper.
If you have critical color matching for your coffee table book, for the cover or inside pages, we also recommend ordering a printed proof with your order. A printed proof is one book that we will print and ship to you to look at in person to examine the color and print materials before your full run goes to print. This provides extra insurance that you will be happy with the final product!
